The Summer school on blue growth in the Euro-Mediterranean region 2018, jointly organised by the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI) and Italian National Institute for Oceanography and Applied Geophysics (OGS) was successfully concluded on 27.6.2018.
OGS is promoting the international school since 2014 supporting this higher education programme to increase professional skills and quality of research in the field of marine sciences, environmental protection and integrated management of coastal areas within Mediterranean countries.
The Technical Workshop “The MSC certification program for sustainable fisheries: tools and opportunities” will be held on 26th of June 2018 at OGS (Via Beirut 2, Trieste). The workshop is being organised by Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and OGS with the support of the OGS Blue Growth Initiative.
The half a day workshop given by Carlos Montero (fisheries biologist and MSC accessibility manager) is directed to technical scientific stakeholders.
The call for 10 three-year scholarships is open, with deadline June 14th, for attending the PhD programme in Earth Sciences, Fluid Dynamics and Mathematics. Interactions and Methods (ESFM), with start November 1st, 2018.
ESFM is an international multidisciplinary PhD course, based at the Department of Mathematics and Geosciences of the University of Trieste, in collaboration with the International Centre for Theoretical Physics and the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics.
On May 11, at 11.00, at OGS meeting room in via Beirut 2 (ex-SISSA), Tamara Cibic (OCE-OGS) will present the seminar: “Structural and functional response of phytoplankton to reduced river inputs and anomalous physical-chemical conditions in the Gulf of Trieste (northern Adriatic Sea)”.
On May 10, at 11.00, at OGS meeting room in Via Piccard 54, Mark Van Dijk (OCE-OGS) will present the seminar: “Automating flowcytometric cluster analysis: An interactive software solution with R Shiny”.
The HarmoNIA project “Harmonization and networking for contaminant assessment in the Ionian and Adriatic Seas” - coordinated by OGS and funded under the Interreg V-B Adriatic-Ionian ADRION program officially starts.
From April 18 to 20, the 10 project partners, coming from 6 different European countries, will meet in Athens for the inaugural event.
